The CEO Symposium provides a unique opportunity for you and your volunteer leader to maximize the leadership partnership. Explore how you can best work together to effectively carry out your association's mission and enhance future success. The expert faculty from Tecker International, LLC, will help you and your leadership partner come to a common understanding of roles, responsibilities, and relationships in association governance and strategy. Facilitated conversations and interactive exercises will help you confidently and enjoyably lead your organization in the upcoming year.

The symposium addresses:

  • Value of research and strategy in knowledge-based decision making
  • Relationships of board and staff in association governance

Program Overview

Day One: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Includes breakfast, a one-hour lunch, and two breaks. There will be an evening reception from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Day Two: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Includes breakfast, a one-hour lunch, and a morning break.

Glenn H. Tecker

Chair and Co-CEO, Tecker International LLC

Glenn H. Tecker is chairman and co-CEO of Tecker International. He has more than 35 years of experience assisting associations and not for profit corporations in planning for change. Glenn is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost experts on association leadership and strategy. He has worked in an executive capacity with businesses, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations and served as a board member for a number of nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Glenn’s expertise is in the areas of governance, leadership, program strategy, evaluation, organizational design, and research & analysis. His celebrated presentation skills will be critical to any effort. Glenn was inducted into ASAE's Academy of Leaders in 1998. Glenn is the author of articles and posts published by the American, Canadian, and European Societies of Association Executives. He has been a keynote speaker for mission driven organizations around the world. He is also the primary co-author of three best-selling books – "The Will to Govern Well: Knowledge, Trust and Nimbleness"; "Building a Knowledge-Based Culture: Using 21st Century Work and Decision-Making Systems in Associations"; and "Successful Association Leadership: Dimensions of 21st Century Competency for the CEO". Currently he serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Guide Dogs for the Blind Foundation and America’s Vet Dogs in NY. He has also served as Board Chair for New Hope Academy – a nonprofit multi-campus nontraditional alternative school in Pa.

Donna F. Dunn, CAE

Principal Consultant, Tecker International LLC

​​Donna French Dunn, CAE, has had a long career as an association executive and strategist. She brings her experience, ranging from membership and communications to change management, to her consultation with and support of association leadership. She has served the association management profession on the ASAE Board of Directors and as chair of the ASAE Executive Management Section Council and the ASAE Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Donna is a board member of the New England Society of Association Executives and the Leadership Circle of South Congregational Church. She makes time for long-distance walking, cross-country skiing, and hiking to balance the challenges of association leadership.

As a Senior Consultant with Tecker International, Jim combines 25 years of executive experience with proven tools to help non-profit staff and volunteer leaders, for-profit CEOs, universities and governments develop focussed strategies, targeted business plans, redesigned operations, streamlined governance, effective brands and implement large scale projects.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy

      ASAE will fully refund program registrations fees in full with notifications submitted to ASAE Registration via e-mail at All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by 10 business days before the program. Requests made in writing less than 10 business days prior to the first day of the program starting will receive a refund of registration fees minus a $75 cancellation fee. Refunds cannot be approved for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited..

      Event Cancellation or Postponement

      ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures..


      Registration and attendance at, or participation in, ASAE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees' image or voice in recordings (both live and on-demand), photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by ASAE and other third parties, including but not limited to the vendors, the host city, and the host CVB. Your registration may include technology that monitors your activities throughout the meeting, such as session attendance and kiosk visited.
