WASHINGTON— The ASAE Research Foundation named three awardees for the 2020 Innovation Grants Program (IGP). Two recipients will receive $10,000, with the third receiving a two-year $30,000 grant. The winners will be recognized during ASAE’s 2020 Great Ideas Conference, March 1-3, at the Grand America in Salt Lake City, Utah. These grants are funded through support from the SunTrust Foundation, Whiteford, Taylor & Preston L.L.P, GEICO, and Atlanta CVB.

WASHINGTON— In celebration of the life and legacy of John H. Graham IV, FASAE, ASAE’s Board of Directors has approved the creation of a diversity, equity, and inclusion fund established through the ASAE Research Foundation. This fund will remain partially restricted to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, which will allow resources from the fund to be allocated to any DEI program as needed, as guided by volunteers and determined by staff.

WASHINGTON— From March 1-3, a total of 424 association executives and industry partners convened for the first time in Salt Lake City, Utah for ASAE’s 2020 Great Ideas Conference at The Grand America Hotel. Over three days, ASAE had 7 Main Stage speakers, hosted by Visit Salt Lake, in addition to 35 Idea lab sessions, three workshops, and four leadership intensive offsite opportunities.

The meeting was conducted by THRUUE Inc., the firm chosen to facilitate the organization’s strategic planning process. THRUUE Inc. was chosen from a field of six finalists who submitted proposals to ASAE through an open selection process.

WASHINGTON— The ASAE Research Foundation named the latest academic institution to receive a grant from the Scholarly Research in Association Management Grants Program (SRGP). The SRGP provides investigators with funds to conduct research on a cross-section of topics relevant to association and member-based organization management. This cycle’s recipient will receive a $13,250 grant that starts on April 15 and lasts for 18 months.

WASHINGTON— Over 3,000 individuals registered for the reimagined one-day virtual Marketing, Membership, & Communications Conference on April 29. The previously scheduled event on April 16-17 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual MMCC was the largest ever with registration over three times higher than the event’s highest recorded attendance in 2015. The event could not have happened without the support of ASAE's Strategic Partner; Naylor Association Solutions; the virtual platform provider TopClass LMS by WBT Systems who made it possible for attendees to access the event free of charge, and Matchbox Virtual who provided video production services for the event.

ASAE, MGM Resorts Announce Cancellation of Face-to-Face 2020 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Las Vegas Due to COVID-19

WASHINGTON—ASAE endorsed a bill introduced on May 26 by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) to create the Pandemic Risk Insurance Program, a system of shared public and private compensation for business interruption losses resulting from future pandemics or public health emergencies.

WASHINGTON—ASAE has selected 12 scholars for the 2020–2022 Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) class. DELP is a two-year program that supports individuals from under-represented identity groups to advance into the ranks of leadership in the association management profession. DELP scholars participate in an accelerated leadership program of education, mentoring, and volunteer service in the association community.
