ASAE Opens Call for 2014-2016 DELP Applications

WASHINGTON—ASAE has launched the call for candidates to apply for the 2014–2016 class of the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP). Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 14, 2014. DELP is an accelerated leadership program of education and volunteer service in the association community. The Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau is the exclusive sponsor of DELP.

“DELP is an esteemed program that ASAE and Detroit Metro CVB started to elevate and increase awareness about the diverse quantity of successful professionals and provide them with an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge and role in the field of association management,” said ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE. “In 2015, we are going to celebrate 15 years of DELP. Because of the great support from Larry Alexander of the Detroit MetroCVB, we have been able to develop executive-level talent in the association community. We both see the value in cultivating executive leadership in a more diverse, global society.”

Candidates who can demonstrate exemplary leadership skills and a commitment to advancing the association community,have at least three years of mid-senior level association management experience or at least one year of experience as an association CEO (as of the date of their application), and are members of a racial/ethnic minority group, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender, or have a disability are encouraged to apply.

During this two-year program, 12 DELP scholars will experience membership and volunteer service in ASAE; registration to ASAE’s Annual Meeting & Exposition and two other ASAE education programs selected by the DELP scholar, including travel and lodging; waiver of the CAE examination fee; and access to industry leaders who could serve as career coaches or mentors.
