CAE Credits: Credits can only be earned through live attendance of each seminar. For each one-hour session attended, attendees will earn 0.5 CAE credit. Watching recorded seminars will not count toward CAE credit.

When you make the decision to pursue your Certified Association Executive credential, you take a big step toward advancing your association management career. The prospect of taking the CAE exam can be daunting, but thorough preparation can help you feel confident when you sit down to take the test.

This eight-week online seminar series will take participants through all eight CAE exam domains. In each session, the instructor will explore the week’s domain and review recommended readings and practice questions. Several attendees will be randomly selected to walk the group through the assigned practice problems. Click on the Agenda tab below for more details on the course breakdown.

Attendees are encouraged to purchase the CAE Study Guide to aid in preparation and to access a practice test. The 2015 version is fine, but we recommend the newer 2020 edition.

This online seminar series consists of eight 60-minute live online sessions that feature facilitated audio content and conversations. A few days before the first session, registrants will receive personalized login information and other series details. Participants will have access to recorded sessions, reference materials, and more for up to 30 days following the end of the program.

      Victoria Forlini, CAE

      I am a leader who embraces change, brings order to chaos and who thinks strategically while improving operations. I enjoy working in organizations with mission and making that mission come alive. My career path crosses major revenue drivers (publications, meetings), strong governance (leading the Executive Office and working with the Board of Directors and scientific Council), and executing strategic initiatives (bringing AGU's centennial programming from inception to operations). Throughout every piece, working with, and strengthening a team, brings the most success and satisfaction. My current roles takes all of these factors as I work on experiments and partnerships within our meetings portfolio. I love to learn and in previous roles have written about Batman and Strawberry Shortcake, learned to code medical diagnoses, edited dozens of cookbooks, and have literally (and appropriately) yelled Stop the Presses!

      Mariama S. Boney, LMSW, CAE

      Committed to maximizing results and growing initiatives, Mariama Boney, LMSW, CAE, celebrates over 20 years as an educational administrator, association executive, facilitator, and consultant, serving in four associations, five colleges/universities, and three non-profits. Currently, Mariama serves as interim Executive Director of Advocates for Children and Youth. And recently served as Executive Director of the Maryland Music Educators Association. She has held other executive director and senior management roles to lead student support, multicultural, and diversity services, university and public relations, governance reviews, membership, volunteer leadership development, and component relations, national awards, plus, accessibility, diversity and inclusion. Her impact demonstrates a distinguished record of directing operations, designing strategy, developing programs, and building partnerships with over 750 diverse groups, teams, and stakeholders of 20 to 100,000. Mariama has served in several volunteer and leadership roles for ASAE, other associations, non-profits, and alumni groups. She is excited to be serving on the ASAE Ethics Committee, blessed to contribute to several causes as a donor, and is an alumnus of the ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (2008-09). Originally from Syracuse, New York, Mariama obtained her B.S. and M.S. degree in Social Work from Syracuse University. She is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and a Licensed Social Worker (LMSW). In her spare time, she enjoys comedy, the performing arts, and spending time with friends, family and local church family. Serving and giving to this community fules her as faculty, content leader, Kickoff Facilitator since 2014/15 and also with Association Management Week. Service also includes, ASAE Ethics Committee, the Gold Circle Awards, Power of A Awards and as a past, past chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Comomittee plus facilitator within the Diversity Executive Leadership Program. As the President and CEO of Achieve More, LLC, a small women and minority-owned consultancy she enjoys focusing on maximizing the talents of others to expand organizational possibilities. The primary areas of expertise are organizational effectiveness, facilitation, training, membership development, coaching plus diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.

      Bonnie Buell Fedchock, CAE

      Bonnie Fedchock has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management, serving as CEO for more than 20 years.She also has extensive experience in the hospitality industry, having worked in her family’s catering business and for several hospitality based nonprofit organizations. Bonnie received a bachelor’s degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland, a master’s degree in not-for-profit management from UMUC and is a Certified Mediator. She is a frequent instructor for ASAE, for both the Association Management Week and the CAE Kickoff Class.

      Trevor S. Mitchell, CAE

      Trevor Mitchell, MBA, CAE, CDP, is executive director at American Mensa, Ltd. As the Executive Director, of American Mensa, Ltd. provides leadership toward the achievement of the American Mensa’s mission, vision, strategy and annual goals and objectives. The Executive Director is responsible for the general, day-to-day administration of the affairs of the organization. The Executive Director serves as chief executive officer for staff and the chief administrative officer for the Board of Directors (the American Mensa Committee or AMC) and its subsidiary Foundation (Mensa Foundation), and is charged with implementing policies and programs that benefit the society. The Executive Director reports to the Chair of the AMC and works with the AMC in developing strategies which support the mission of American Mensa, developing and implementing the strategic goals and objectives of American Mensa, and enabling the AMC to effectively fulfill its governance function.

      Carmen Elliott, MS, CAE

      Carmen Elliott is the Vice President of Payment Policy for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a professional association with over 100,000 members. She serves as a member of the leadership team and provides strategic direction in the association’s advocacy efforts in promoting optimal coverage for consumers and payment policies of health programs for physical therapy services. In addition, she is the staff lead of the APTA’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Carmen is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She currently serves as chair of the ASAE Healthcare Community Advisory Committee. Carmen holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and Master of Science degree in Health Care Management. She was selected as an ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) Scholar for the class of 2016-2018 and received her Certified Association Executive credential in 2018. Carmen received her BS degree from Bowie State University, Bowie, MD and a MS degree in Health Care Management from Marymount University, Arlington, VA. She is an avid member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and earned the CAE credential in 2018. Carmen was selected as an ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) Scholar for the class of 2016-2018.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy

      Programs priced at less than $100: ASAE will fully refund program registrations fees in full with notifications submitted to ASAE Registration via e-mail at [email protected] Refunds cannot be approved for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.

      Consent to Use of Photographic Images Registration and attendance at, or participation in, ASAE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees' image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by ASAE and other third parties, including but not limited the venue, the host city and the host CVB.
