We create the world we want to live and operate in with the words we use and hear. This is especially true in the workplace. In this session, we’re going to learn:

  • how to become aware of our own impact and influence on those around us
  • how to design crucial conversations—which can include performance reviews, constructive feedback, and other discussions where important decisions are being made—by thinking about the result we want to achieve before we ever utter a word
  • how to listen for what is beneath others’ words and ensure others don’t have to do that with what we say

You’ll hear examples of both good and bad scenarios and practice designing a crucial conversation with some of your peers in break-out sessions. We’ll share a resource that the facilitator kept by her side as an association CEO for support in designing these conversations. Speaking, writing, and social media posts are all components of crucial conversations and will make or break you in your career and leadership aspirations. Learn how to be effective, find your voice, and have difficult conversations respectfully.
