Data: More Talking, Less Typing With Digital Assistants

Almost half of all Americans have used a digital voice assistant, whether it was on a smartphone or other device.

Got a burning question? If you’re like a lot of other consumers, you may be turning more often to a voice-enabled digital assistant like Siri, Alexa, Cortana, or Bixby to find an answer. According to the Pew Research Center, almost half of all Americans (46 percent) said they’ve used one.

And as this technology begins to seep into our everyday life—from voice-enabled showers to TV remote controls to automobiles—at least for now, Americans seem content to ask for help via their smartphone, computer, or tablet, and using standalone devices like Google Home or Amazon Echo.
