WASHINGTON– On March 18, ASAE will present Congressman Kevin Brady (TX-8), Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14), and Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-6) with ASAE Sentinel Awards in Washington, DC. They are receiving the award for their leadership roles in advocating for the association community in the ongoing discussion of comprehensive tax reform and for defending the need for government attendance at association meetings.

The Sentinel Awards will be presented during a reception at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill as part of ASAE’s annual Legislative Fly In, with ASAE’s Board of Directors and participants from American Associations Day in attendance.

As a senior member on the House Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Brady is an advocate for associations as the committee looks to reform the tax code. Congressman Brady is currently the Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health and serves as the lead House member on the Joint Economic Committee. Brady has represented Texas in the House since 1997.

Congressman David Joyce is a champion because he understands the importance association meetings have on the economy. Before entering Congress in January 2013, Congressman Joyce served as Geauga County Prosecutor in Ohio for six consecutive terms. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Joyce is a voice for the association community in Ohio and around the country.

In the Chicago area and throughout Illinois, Congressman Roskam has been stalwart in his support for the association industry. As Chair of the Ways and Means Oversight Committee, he directs committee examinations of tax-writing and healthcare programs within the federal government. Now in his fifth term, Congressman Roskam understands the positive economic and social impact of associations.

“ASAE and the association community are honored to present Congressman Brady, Congressman Joyce, and Congressman Roskam with Sentinel Awards for their continued effort and dedication to the association sector,” said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE. “Due to their leadership on a variety of issues, these congressmen have ensured associations have been able to continue the important work they do in every district and state around the country.”

American Associations Day, March 18-19, and the Sentinel Award presentation are part of ASAE’s Power of A campaign, which calls attention to the association community’s contributions to America’s economy and to our quality of life.
