Ethical behavior is never as black and white as it seems, and it can be hard to measure objectively in oneself. Fundraisers have an opportunity to get a snapshot of their ethical profiles via AFP's Ethics Assessment Inventory. Developed in partnership with the Center for Ethical Business Cultures at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, the EAI poses 14 questions in various dimensions of fundraising work. The results are private to each participant and score the fundraiser's ethical profile in comparison to aggregate scores across the profession—rather than giving an "ethical" or "unethical" verdict. Since launch in 2011, more than 2,000 AFP members have taken the assessment.
