This five-report series details an ASAE Research Foundation study of the business-innovation readiness of healthcare associations and the foundational logic of a maturity model used in the study. Association Business Ventures conducted the research, which dug into association acuity in eight performance areas, or domains, identified as necessary for business-venture innovation by AVI.
The maturity model encompasses the following eight domains:
- Operational agility
- Foresight governance
- Collective purpose
- Digital practices
- Engaged ecosystems
- Empowerment culture
- Catalytic leadership
- Diverse Talent
The first report, Advancing Business-Venture Innovation: A Readiness Tool for Health Associations summarizes the research effort. Four additional readiness reports will delve into each of the domains (2 domains per report) and offer leaders the opportunity to self-assess and score their organization’s readiness. Collectively, the reports are intended to provide associations leaders with an informed mindset and tools for organizational change and improvement, such as using a readiness diagnosis to correct the barriers to business innovation.
Although the research focused on healthcare associations, executives from all types of associations can benefit from the baseline measurements, pathways, and tools provided to improve their business- development capacity.
