CAE Lounge to Feature Speakers From ASAE's Bestselling Publications

Don't miss an opportunity to hear from two bestselling association authors at the CAE Lounge at the Annual Meeting & Expo.

Each year, ASAE's CAE Community Outreach Committee hosts a CAE Lounge at ASAE's Annual Meeting & Exposition. Generously sponsored by Event Partner Johnson Lambert, LLP, the CAE Lounge is a place where CAEs can relax, grab a bite, participate in CAE-specific programming, and connect with other CAEs. This year, the lounge will feature two special facilitated discussions geared for CAEs featuring authors from two of ASAE's bestselling publications.

On Monday, August 5, from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Harrison Coerver, co-author of Road to Relevance:5 Strategies for Competitive Associations, will lead a discussion on how associations can continue to remain competitive in the ever-evolving landscape of non-profits. "The traditional association model was not designed for this environment. Most association governance and management practices were developed in a kinder and gentler time. This is going to require association execs and leaders alike to think differently about how they govern and manage their associations today and into the future," says Coerver. (See "Lessons From Road to Relevance: 5 Strategies for Competitive Associations" for more information.)

On Tuesday, August 6, from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., a discussion will take place on From Insight to Action: Six Ways to Think, Lead & Achieve, led by co-author Gabriel Eckert, CAE. "There has never been a more complex time to be a leader: The pace of change is accelerating. The amount of information and data is growing at a near exponential pace. And communities and organizations throughout the world are quickly becoming more interconnected," Eckert says. "In response to this, many leaders have focused on restructuring, reorganizing, measuring, monitoring, and quantifying the performance of their organizations. As a result, many leaders have become too focused on metrics, mechanics, and minutia, and they have not allowed themselves sufficient time to focus on their role as a leader. The leadership competencies of yesterday are no longer sufficient to meet the increasingly complex challenges of the future."

The CAE Lounge will be located in Room B407, on Level 4 of the Georgia World Congress Center (right next door to the Snap Learning Spot). A continental breakfast will be served in the lounge 7 a.m. to  8:30 a.m. on Sunday and Tuesday.
