An Association for Associations in Africa

Earlier this year association leaders in Africa came together to launch their own organization, the Africa Association Management Centre. Cofounder Nicanor Sabula discusses AAMC's history and goals.

Last year, a group of association leaders from Africa came to Washington, DC, as part of a study mission sponsored by ASAE. (Some of the participants took part in a roundtable discussion with Associations Now.) That experience proved inspirational: Conversations about launching a dedicated association for African association professionals ensued, and March marked the launch of the Africa Association Management Centre. Nicanor Sabula, CEO of the East Africa Association of Grantmakers and interim president of AAMC, spoke about associations in Africa, the organization's early plans, and how the global economy has affected the continent....
