An expiring lease led one small-staff association to an experiment in telecommuting. Here's how the process worked before, during, and after the change.

First, Lydia Middleton, CAE, started thinking about what her organization should do when its office lease expired. Later, she took a modified sabbatical that led her to work from home during summer 2010, and she marveled at how productive she was without a long commute and frequent interruptions. Then, at the 2010 ASAE Annual Meeting & Expo in Los Angeles, she attended a session about an association whose staff all worked from home and loved it....
