As the geschäftsführer (managing director) of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbandsmanagement (German Society for Association Management), Wolfgang Lietzau plays a leading role in Germany's association industry, which in many ways is as well-established and diverse as those in the United States. The country's 14,000 professional and trade assocations share many of the same challenges in terms of meetings, education, and navigating a difficult economy.
