More associations are implementing eco-friendly practices. Check out stats from ASAE’s SR survey.
Association professionals are continuing their strong commitments to green initiatives in 2011, according to the Social Responsibility Initiatives survey conducted by ASAE in fall 2010.
The findings indicate:
- 49 percent: Have strengthened their environmental practices. An additional 23 percent plan to do so during the coming year.
- 68 percent: Reported using eco-friendly meeting practices. An additional 11 percent expect to begin these practices during the coming year.
- 27 percent: Have created a "green team" task force or committee in their association that aims to lighten the organization's environmental impact. An additional 14 percent plan to launch a green team during the coming year.
Overall, 62 percent of survey respondents said social responsibility initiatives are helping to accomplish the mission of their associations. Fifty-four percent said they have effected positive environmental, social, or economic change and improved their organization's reputation. More than half also said that these initiatives have reduced costs and inspired new partnerships.
