LaShawn Sidbury, CMP, is director of meetings and special interest groups for the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO). She has over 16 years of experience in the association and nonprofit sectors.

LaShawn began her career at the National Academies–National Academy of Sciences, where she worked on meeting planning and project management for the Board on Science Education and the Air Force Studies Board. She then moved on to ASCO, where she is responsible for the education of academic optometric educators, as well as all aspects of ASCO’s extensive meetings portfolio.

Committed to continuing education, LaShawn earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2011. She is a member of ASAE, Association of Women in Events, and Meeting Professionals International. She has served on various committees in her membership associations and has served as a facilitator to MPI’s CMP boot camp.

LaShawn graduated from Strayer University with a degree in business administration.
