The Symposium for Chief Executive & Chief Elected Officers gives you and your volunteer leader the chance to explore your priorities for the year and determine how best to work together. Gain insight on making knowledge-based decisions, creating a culture of trust, sustaining a nimble infrastructure, and come to a common understanding of roles, responsibilities, and relationships in association governance.

The Symposium addresses:

  • the fundamentals of a strong volunteer/staff partnership
  • current and anticipated challenges facing associations
  • the value of research and strategy
  • leadership styles
  • knowledge-based governance strategies

Program Overview:
Day One: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. — includes breakfast, a one-hour lunch and two breaks

      Glenn H. Tecker

      Glenn H. Tecker is chairman and co-CEO of Tecker International. He has more than 35 years of experience assisting associations and corporations in planning for change. Glenn is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost experts on leadership and strategy. He has worked in an executive capacity with businesses, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations and served as a board member for a number of nonprofit and for-profit organizations. Glenn’s particular expertise in the areas of governance, program strategy, organizational design, research analysis, and presentation skills will be critical to the effort.

      Paul D. Meyer

      Paul D. Meyer is president and co‐CEO of Tecker International. Paul has comprehensive experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, facilitating change initiatives, assessing programs and services, consulting with organizations on strategy and implementation, and understanding operational and governance best practices. Paul has worked with more than 300 organizations in a variety of industries and professions. Prior to his work with Tecker International, he worked in senior management positions for several large not‐for‐profit organizations. This experience as a staff member created an understanding and appreciation for the unique and important roles volunteers and staff play in organizational success.

      Leigh Wintz, FASAE, CAE

      Leigh Wintz, FASAE, CAE, principal consultant with Tecker International, is a skilled facilitator with an energetic style and sense of humor. Leigh has worked with clients in North America, Europe, and Asia to implement modern board governance techniques that empower staff to achieve results and keep boards focused on the future and strategic decision making. She has 25 years’ experience as an association CEO and extensive volunteer involvement on a number of boards. She is a Fellow of ASAE, a certified association executive, and a professional registered parliamentarian who specializes in writing or revising bylaws.
