Impactful professional development and continuing education requires that staff move beyond filling a session room or webinar time slot into Directors/VPs of Learning engaging in the design of learning strategy. Consider the mindset of busy adult learners and design engaging, relevant content to improve acquisition and application of knowledge. The true purpose for associations is to advance a profession with qualified, competent practice. We will also explore new approaches that move away from time-measured learning as we consider the future of Competency Based Education (CBE) vs. seat hours (CPE).

This online seminar features facilitated audio content and conversations. Soon after registering, attendees will receive login information from Zoom. Participants will have access to the recorded session, reference materials, and more for up to 30 days following the program.

      Tracy L. Petrillo, CAE

      Tracy Petrillo, EdD, CAE serves as Chief Learning Officer for CASBO and Executive Director for Pearls of Learning. Tracy is a thought leader in adult learning, digital credentialing, educational technologies, and leadership development. She is a past-Chair of the ASAE CAE Commission, won the 2016 ASAE Professional Performance Award, and was named a Changemaker by MeetingsNet magazine. Tracy’s articles have appeared in CalSAE The Executive and ICE Digest. She speaks nationally to nonprofit, ed tech, higher ed and corporate audiences, and also consults/advises. Dr. Petrillo completed her doctorate with a specialization in human resource development in 2015. Her dissertation explored the value of professional credentialing.

      Jennifer Graebe

      Jennifer Graebe has a professional nursing career spanning 25 years. Jennifer Graebe is the Director of the NCPD and Joint Accreditation programs at the ANCC. In this role, Jennifer is responsible for strategic operations and program expansion through identifying opportunities and creating relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Jennifer received her Master of Nursing in leadership and health systems management from Drexel University, her baccalaureate degree in nursing from Villanova University, and a certificate in healthcare management, accounting, and economics from Johns Hopkins University. Jennifer is ANCC Nurse Executive Advanced – Board Certified. Jennifer is a DrPH candidate in education and public health and a co-investigator with the Global Strategic Operatives for the Eradication of Human Trafficking. Jennifer serves as a board member for the Competency Based Education Network and the Academy for Forensic Nursing and is the chair of the Alliance Board Nominating Committee. Jennifer is a published column author, and a seasoned presenter. Jennifer is a peer reviewer and associate editor for the Journal of Continuing Education. She is part-time faculty at Capella University in the School of Nursing and Health and adjunct faculty at Villanova University College of Nursing. Jennifer has held positions in leadership at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as a Clinical Educator and Clinical Manager in the Emergency Department.

      Amber Garrison Duncan

      Dr. Garrison Duncan is a proven catalyst with over 20 years of progressive leadership to scale postsecondary student success policies and practices, particularly competency-based learning that serves minoritized communities. Currently, Amber serves as the Executive Vice President of the Competency-Based Education Network, the nation's largest non-profit organization devoted to focusing education on what learners know and can do. These models allow institutions to advance a truly learner-centric model that creates new, more equitable opportunities for economic mobility. Over her career, Amber has led work in competency-based education, learning frameworks, assessment, credential recognition, digital learner records and open data standards, as well as quality assurance. These activities allow her to draw upon her decades of campus-based experience designing co-curricular learning experiences and leading assessment. Before her role at C-BEN, Amber spent 8 years as a grant maker at Lumina Foundation and prior to that served as Director of Student Affairs Assessment and Research at the University of Oregon, and various student affairs roles at Florida State University, University of Michigan, Hope College and Texas A&M University.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy

      ASAE will fully refund program registrations fees in full with notifications submitted to ASAE Registration via e-mail at ASAEservice@asaecenter.org. All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by 5 business days before the program. Requests made in writing less than 5 business days prior to the first day of the program starting will receive a refund of registration fees minus a $50 administrative fee. Refunds cannot be approved for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement

      ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.

      Consent to Use of Photographic Images

      Registration and attendance at, or participation in, ASAE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees' image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by ASAE and other third parties, including but not limited the venue, the host city and the host CVB.
