As 2022 winds down we find our organizations, once again, in a moment of shift and potential. COVID as crisis, while not done, is becoming more an integrated consideration in this next normal. Generational transition in the workforce continues as we see new faces coming into leadership positions in our represented industries, but not always into our associations. Time is at a premium and the most precious commodity.

The priority of mission is greater than ever and the potential for an association to realize mission impact is directly correlated to the health of its governance. This series will present a landscape view of how governance is adapting in this continually evolving environment. How are executives recognizing dynamics of potential in their ever-changing Boards and leveraging those opportunities for greater partnership? How have we advanced the conversation on the priority of inclusivity and diversity in our governance to action? What are general better practices and structures that are emerging from Boards to Committees to the volunteer pipeline? Join in this series to learn and share your voice as we explore what governance needs to look like in 2023 and beyond.

This online seminar series features facilitated audio content and conversations. Soon after registering, attendees will receive login information from Zoom. Participants will have access to the recorded session, reference materials, and more for up to 30 days following the program.

      Navigating Board Dynamics

No two Boards are the same. The personalities. The priorities. The dynamics. The Board members we wish could stay for four terms. The Board members where one term is one too many. In this panel association executives will share the stories and strategies them employ with ever changing Board members. We will hear how they navigate the cycles of challenge as well as how they leverage the cycles of strength to preserve healthy structures for the future.

      Wednesday December 14, 2022
      2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

      Building Intentionally Inclusive Boards

Building an inclusive Board doesn’t happen by accident. It takes intention, it takes dedication, and it takes continual commitment in a journey for ever-learning and improvement. In this session we will hear from approaches and practices associations and their leaders have been employing over this past year and beyond to see a more inclusive governance. We will hear about how those conversations start, how the process of inclusive evolution needs intentional design, and how transformation isn’t just for the moment but months & years to come.

      Thursday December 15, 2022
      2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

      Post-demic Calibration for the Future

Two years of crisis navigation has impacted the governance of our associations – both for the better and in challenging ways as well. For many of our leaders, reflecting on how their association was able to thrive (or even survive!) through the height of pandemic in no small part because of their contribution has deepened their loyalty and commitment. Through town halls and coffee chats, the impact of their voice in sharing the narrative of their association has grown. Yet, we are also facing Executive Committees that have adopted crisis time oversight as a new norm. Or a challenge to fill the governance pipeline in the face of everyone feeling that they have less time. In this session we will explore what trends, challenges, and better practices are shaping governance as we look to 2023.
