Strategic planning is a cornerstone to an organization’s success, helping to identify and achieve it’s mission and direction. This session will focus on how young professionals can develop strategic planning skills. Learn how to create and commit to a strategic plan, both in an organization and your career.

This interactive session will lead participants through the process of developing and sticking to a strategic plan. Participants will:

  • Learn more about how to formally develop a strategic plan
  • Learn to create a strategic plan that your leaders and team will commit to
  • Apply these lessons to your own professional development

      Joseph Thomas Carden, CAE

      Joe is the Vice President, Membership and Marketing for the Professional Services Council. He and his team focus on driving excellence for the member experience, communicating the value of engagement with PSC and widening the appreciation of the advocacy led on behalf of the federal contracting industry. His favorite part of his job is working with a talented and committed team of professionals. Prior to joining PSC in 2012, he worked for Unisys, the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council, Wirthlin Worldwide, Congressional Quarterly, the New Republic, an U.S. Senator, and ran his own consulting firm – Homeland Strategies. Joe earned a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Georgia. He is member of the American Society of Association Executives and is a Certified Association Executive (CAE). He dotes on his beautiful and patient wife and wonderful sons in Alexandria, VA.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy
      ASAE will fully refund program registrations fees in full with notifications submitted to our Member Services Team via e-mail at [email protected].
      All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by 5 business days before the program. Requests made in writing less than 5 business days prior to the first day of the conference starting will receive a refund of registration fees minus a $50 administrative fee. Refunds cannot be approved for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement
      ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.

      Consent to Use of Photographic Images
      Registration and attendance at, or participation in, ASAE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees' image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by ASAE and other third parties, including but not limited the venue, the host city and the host
