Association executives are being challenged as never before. 2020 has brought us the triple crises of a global pandemic, recession, and social unrest. Association leaders have had to improvise and strategize to stabilize their organizations, to support the industries and professions they serve, to motivate both volunteers and staff under the most stressful of circumstances, and to transform their organizations to thrive in the post-Covid-19 era. Indeed, we can expect to emerge from the crisis in 2021, but what will the world look like, and how we work with our boards and staff to position our organizations for value and impact in a new landscape?

Today's association CEO’s require a portfolio of strategic skills that will enable them to engage their boards and staff to interpret changes in the environment, to innovate, to create diverse and inclusive organizations, and to test and implement new business models. This speaker will explore key attributes and skills that association leaders will need in the years to come.

      Paul Pomerantz, FACHE, FASAE, CAE

      Paul Pomerantz is CEO of the American Society of Anesthesiologists®(ASA®). He received a Master of Business Administration specializing in health administration from Temple University, after which he served in executive roles at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel). Pomerantz has held CEO roles at the Drug Information Association, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Society of Interventional Radiology, and Clinical Laboratory Management Association. Pomerantz is also active in healthcare and professional leadership. In recent years, he served as chair of the Center for Association Leadership (ASAE Foundation) and treasurer of the National Health Council (NHC). He also served on the board of ASAE Business Services, Inc, and the ASA Power of A committee. He currently serves as chair-elect of Association Forum (Chicago) where he also serves as Chair of the Health Collaborative. He is a frequent speaker and writer on topics of association, healthcare leadership, governance, and strategy.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy

      Programs priced at less than $100: ASAE will fully refund program registrations fees in full with notifications submitted to ASAE Registration via e-mail at [email protected] Refunds cannot be approved for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.
