In this five-session online seminar series, learn firsthand from other executives who share techniques they use successfully to thrive and get results in an ever-changing, high-pressure environment.

The series features thought-provoking presentations and discussion led by leaders from both inside and outside the association management industry. Register today to:

This online seminar series consists of five 60-minute live online sessions that feature facilitated audio content and conversations. Before the first session, registrants will receive login information and links to test their computer and become acquainted with the platform. Participants will have access to recorded sessions, reference materials, and more for up to 30 days following the program.

      Danielle Duran Baron, CAE

      Danielle Duran Baron is the Executive Director of CAATE, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, the national accreditor of professional, post-professional and residency athletic training programs. She joined the organization in September 2018. Prior to that, Danielle was the Chief Marketing Officer at ABET, where she directed the organization through an award-winning rebranding initiative and managed the efforts of the marketing, communications and events staff to reflect ABET’s global scope and to reach an increasingly diverse audience. Before joining ABET in 2012, Danielle worked at Global Communities, a Maryland-based international development organization. Previously, she held positions in communications and marketing in the United States and in Brazil, and served as a Sector Manager at the British Consulate in Rio de Janeiro. Bringing nearly 20 years of experience, Danielle has worked in the nonprofit, private and government sectors in the United States and overseas. A journalist by training, her work has been published in the United States, Europe and Latin America. When not working or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and teaching her sons Portuguese. Danielle has a bachelor’s degree in communications and international relations from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, a master’s degree in journalism from New York University and an executive MBA in marketing from Ibmec Business School, in Rio de Janeiro. She is also a CAE and a DELP Scholar. A native of Brazil, she is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish and conversant in French and German.

      Lane Velayo, CAE

      Lane Velayo is executive director of the Indiana Music Education Association. In his role, Lane is charged with implementing IMEA’s ambitious strategic plan, focused on making IMEA a stronger advocate for music education in the state of Indiana while maintaining quality programs for educators and Indiana learners alike. Lane has seen a complete rebranding of the organization, including the launch of a modified name which better reflects IMEA’s programs and services. He has overseen the launch of a new foundation arm and other marketing/partnership efforts meant to raise IMEA’s profile statewide.

      John S. Jordan, CAE

      Mr. John S. Jordan, CAE, is the Executive Vice President/CEO of the PA Academy of Family Physicians since November 1, 1998. John came to the PA Chapter from the PA Medical Society, where he was Director of Association Management Services and Director of Membership and Physician Services. Prior to that John was a Senior Management Engineer with York Hospital, in York PA and a Senior Management Consultant with the Sisters of Charity Health Care System in Houston, TX. Married with two children, Mr. Jordan received his MA in Management Information Systems from the George Washington University, Washington, DC, and his MPA in Health Care Administration and a BS in Medical Technology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. Mr. Jordan served on two non-profit boards, the Cumberland Valley School District where he served as President and Board Director of the Cumberland & Perry Vocational Technical School. He also served for six years as a Board Trustee at the Harrisburg Area Community College. Mr. Jordan is a Fellow of the Philadelphia College of Physicians, the oldest medical college in the US founded in 1787.

      Steve Robert Smith, M.S., CAE

      Steve Smith, MS, CAE, has served as CEO and executive director of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and an account executive at Association Management Center in Chicago since 2007. Steve also served as senior director of business development, marketing, and membership services at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in a variety of senior staff roles at the Alzheimer’s Association for nearly a decade. Steve has a track record of creating high-performing boards and encouraging collaboration between senior staff and volunteer leaders. He currently serves on three professional boards and has been recognized as a “Top Association CEO” by “CEO Update” magazine.

      Lana Vukovljak

      Lana Vukovljak is chief executive officer of the Council of Residential Specialists. With more than 15 years of nonprofit management experience, she has successfully helped organizations enhance their financial performance by implementing more efficient processes, increasing staff engagement, and improving performance. By building strategic partnerships between nonprofit, for-profit, and government groups, Lana also developed and implemented new product and service offerings that increased membership. Her previous positions include chief executive officer/executive vice president with the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, chief executive officer of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, and vice president at the American Health Information Management Association.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy

      Submit all requests to ASAE Registration via email at [email protected] All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by November 30, 2018, to receive a full refund, less a $75 administrative fee. Refunds cannot be approved for requests received after this date, to include no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement

      ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.

      Consent to Use of Photographic Images

      Registration and attendance at, or participation in, ASAE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees' image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by ASAE and other third parties, including but not limited the venue, the host city and the host CVB.
