In this five-session online seminar series, learn firsthand from other executives who share techniques they use successfully to thrive and get results in an ever-changing, high-pressure environment.

The series features thought-provoking presentations and discussion led by leaders from both inside and outside the association management industry. Register today to:

This online seminar series consists of five 60-minute live online sessions that feature video and facilitated audio content and conversations. Before the first session, registrants will receive login information and links to test their computer and become acquainted with the platform. Participants will have access to recorded sessions, reference materials, and more for up to 30 days following the program.

      Matt Tenney

      Tenney works to develop highly effective leaders who achieve extraordinary, long-term business outcomes—and live more fulfilling lives—by realizing high levels of self-mastery and more effectively serving and inspiring greatness in others. Matt is a social entrepreneur and the author of “Serve to Be Great: Leadership Lessons from a Prison, a Monastery, and a Boardroom” and “The Mindfulness Edge: How to Rewire Your Brain for Leadership and Personal Excellence Without Adding to Your Schedule.” He is an international keynote speaker, a trainer, and a consultant with the Perth Leadership Institute. His clients include Wells Fargo, Marriott, United Airlines, RE/MAX and many other organizations.

      Thomas J. Coté, MBA, CAE

      Tom is the executive director at the Academy of Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition, a national association comprised of dietitians and nutrition practitioners who are employed in professional sports, college/school athletics, heart health, and eating disorder settings. As executive director, he oversees all operations and functions of the organization including governance, finance, programming, membership, staff management, and strategic planning. Tom also serves as vice president of strategic development at Capitol Hill Management Services, where he leads efforts in association/nonprofit and business development. Previously, Tom was executive director of the New York State Psychological Association. He has held positions as deputy director at the New York State Association for Affordable Housing and director of government relations for the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York. Tom serves as the 2017 board chair for Empire State Society of Association Executives, where he has also chaired the Young Association Professionals Committee and the Membership Task Force. He is also a board member of Joseph's House and Shelter, a local nonprofit providing housing and services for homeless families and individuals. Tom has been a speaker and panelist on a myriad of topics in association management. He has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on youth leadership and inter-generational motivation. He has also provided strategic planning, board development, and bylaws reviews for several organizations. During his time at the New York State Assembly as a legislative director, Tom worked with advocates, nonprofits, trade associations, and policy makers on issues related to healthcare, housing, and social reforms. He has also held several posts on political campaigns for the New York State Assembly and Senate, as well as the United States Congress. Tom holds a MBA with a certification in not-for-profit management from the College of Saint Rose as well as a dual bachelor’s degree in rhetoric & communication and sociology from the University at Albany. He is a graduate of the Association Leadership Academy accredited by the Empire State Society of Association Executives and was a recipient of the ESSAE Rising Star Award as well as the American Psychological Association Division 31 Award for Outstanding Achievement by a psychological association staff member.

      Heather Pownall, MBA, CAE

      Heather is a dynamic leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and experience building high-performing teams in almost every business function -- from sales and marketing to operations and human resources. Heather’s passion for leadership development, service to others and working for a greater cause led her to the world of start-ups and associations. She is currently Director of Business Development for the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, which serves 650,000 finance and accounting professionals and advocates for the public interest on current and emerging issues. Heather earned her MBA, with a focus on entrepreneurship, at North Carolina State University. She is an alumni scholar of ASAE’s two-year Diversity Executive Leadership Program and is a Certified Association Executive. At home in Durham, North Carolina, she serves as a board member with the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce. Heather has been writing and drawing in journals since she was 9 years old as a means of personal discovery and growth. A dedicated student of mindfulness, she writes about the practice on her personal blog to help others. She enjoys inspiring people to achieve their most extraordinary potential through self-mastery and continual learning.

      Cancellation, Refund & Substitution Policy

      Submit all requests to ASAE Registration via email at [email protected] All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by February 5, 2018, to receive a full refund, less a $75 administrative fee. Refunds cannot be approved for requests received after this date, to include no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted at any time. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

      Event Cancellation or Postponement

      ASAE reserves exclusive right to modify, postpone/reschedule or cancel programs for any reason, including but not limited to emergency, inclement weather or other 'acts of God'. If there is an event cancellation, every attempt will be made to reschedule, and registration fees will be applied to the rescheduled event date. Any travel, lodging, or incidental expenses incurred related to a cancelled event cannot be refunded under any circumstances. If a cancelled event cannot be rescheduled, ASAE will determine an equitable basis for the refund of a portion or all of the registration fees, after due consideration of circumstances and expenditures.

      Consent to Use of Photographic Images

      Registration and attendance at, or participation in, ASAE meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees' image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by ASAE and other third parties, including but not limited the venue, the host city and the host CVB.
