New ASAE VP of Public Policy Mary Kate Cunningham, CAE, Officially Instated
WASHINGTON – Mary Kate Cunningham, CAE, is ASAE’s new Vice President of Public Policy. With 10 plus years of experience working in legislative affairs and association advocacy, Cunningham will lead ASAE’s public policy efforts on Capitol Hill and around the country.
“Mary Kate has proven herself as a strong voice for association interests through her leadership with ASAE’s tax reform efforts, combating threats to voluntary certification around the country, and leading the organizations’ fight against discriminatory legislation,” said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham, FASAE, CAE. “Her strategic thinking and ability to galvanize volunteers and industry leaders are assets for this position.”
Prior to joining ASAE, Cunningham worked in Congress at the House Armed Services Committee, serving in the Communications Office and the Seapower Subcommittee, and for the Federation of American Scientists. In addition to her work at ASAE, she serves as a member of the Tax Coalition and the American Ireland Funds Young Leaders Society. From 2014- 2016 Cunningham served as the Director of Communications for No Exceptions.

In 2013 she received the "Up and Coming Practitioner" award from the Professional Women in Advocacy Conference and in 2019 was named as a “Leading Association Lobbyist” by Association Trends magazine. Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Catholic University of America and a master’s degree in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University.
