2013 ASAE Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference Inspired Creativity, Strategies to Produce Results

WASHINGTON, DC—ASAE had a total of 844 attendees and a sold out exhibit hall with 62 booths at the 2013 Marketing, Membership, & Communications Conference (MMCC), June 4-5, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. With 40 learning labs, two general sessions, and Ignite presentations, attendees learned the latest trends, gathered best practices, and gained strategies to create the right formula for success for their associations

WASHINGTON—ASAE had a total of 844 attendees and a sold out exhibit hall with 62 booths at the 2013 Marketing, Membership, & Communications Conference (MMCC), June 4-5, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. With 40 learning labs, two general sessions, and Ignite presentations, attendees learned the latest trends, gathered best practices, and gained strategies to create the right formula for success for their associations.

On June 4, Rohit Bhargava kicked off as the Opening General Session speaker, and he emphasized how decisions are made on personal connections and emotions more than we realize. He advised association professionals to focus on Truth, Relevance, Unselfishness, Simplicity, and Timing (TRUST) because it will build trust with your members and stakeholders. He is the founder of Influential Marketing Group and author of Likeonomics.

During the Closing General Session, Todd Henry provided attendees with five strategies on how to get into a creative mindset. He stressed the need to leverage hours wisely and effectively and develop stimulating relationships by seeking people that inspire you and relating it back to your work. Todd is the founder of Accidental Creative and author of Accidental Creative: How To Be Brilliant at a Moment’s Notice.

On June 5, ASAE hosted the Gold Circle Awards ceremony and recognized the 2013 Gold Circle Award winners and the Overall Excellence Award Winner.

For 2013, ASAE added component relations education sessions and 30-minute Express Learning sessions. Education sessions throughout the conference covered topics including volunteer leadership and engagement, social media, membership models and trends, branding, mobile, and website design.

Next year’s MMCC conference will be June 17-18, 2014.
