New Date for ASAE’s In Honor of Women Event Featuring Author of The Richer Sex and the Rise of Women’s Economic Power Seven women will be awarded for their leadership contributions

WASHINGTON—Due to Hurricane Sandy last year, ASAE had to postpone the In Honor of Women event on November 2. The luncheon and awards has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 29 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at The Fairmont in Washington, D.C.

Liza Mundy, award-winning reporter and New York Times best-selling author of three books including the recently released title, The Richer Sex and the Rise of Women’s Economic Power, will be the luncheon speaker. She will discuss her latest book which talks about how almost 40 percent of working wives out earn their partners. She will provide statistics, social research and compelling personal stories and while exploring the impact on dating, marriage, children and family life. After the luncheon speaker, seven women will be recognized for their contributions to the industry, and the winners are:
  • Community Award: Sharon Swan, FASAE, CAE, CEO, American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Anne Bryant, CAE, Ed.D, Executive Director, National School Boards Association
  • Posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award: Marie Fallon, EdD, MHSA, CEO, The National Association of Local Boards of Health
  • Industry Partner of the Year Award: Debra Stratton, President, Stratton Publishing & Marketing
  • Mentor of the Year Award (two winners): Velma Hart, FASAE, CAE, CFO, Thurgood Marshall College Fund; Debbie Hackman, CAE, Chief Executive Officer, Georgia Nurses Association
  • Rising Star Award: Rebecca Spicer, VP, Communications & Public Affairs, National Beer Wholesalers Association
