Each winner will receive up to $10,000, and they will be recognized during ASAE’s 2014 Great Ideas Conference, March 9-11, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.

WASHINGTON—ASAE held its 2013 CEO/CIO Pre-Conference Program and Technology Conference & Expo, December 3-5, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center with 1,233 total participants, which is the second highest attended conference in its eight year history. Participants took part in more than 40 high-level practical education sessions within five pathways, a sold-out Expo Hall, and the Technology Town Hall Meeting.
Meet in Minnesota Becomes New ASAE Event Partner

WASHINGTON— ASAE announces Meet in Minnesota, a consortium of convention and visitor bureaus and the state's tourism office, has joined ASAE’s group of Alliance Partners in the Event Partner category. The new partnership will start in January. As part of their partnership, the Minnesota group will host two game changer speakers at the 2014 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition in Nashville.

WASHINGTON—After meeting with ASAE in March, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) this week provided federal agencies with additional guidance on travel and conferences. ASAE worked with other associations to draft a protocol for conference planners to use in putting together meetings attended by federal employees. OMB adopted many of the protocol’s suggested best practices, such as hotel costs that are within government per diem rates and ensuring that social events held in conjunction with a conference aren’t lavish or excessive.

WASHINGTON—Today, ASAE is introducing the first Diversity + Inclusion (D+I) tool for associations called the Association Inclusion Index. It’s an online, diagnostic tool that evaluates D+I policies, philosophies, and practices against community standards. The tool offers strategies and solutions for expanding an organization’s reach, relevance and reputation through practicing inclusive excellence. It focuses on five key D+I performance domains in associations which are: Mission and Focus, Roles and Leadership Accountability, Resources, Operations, and Communication and Culture.

In its continuous effort to stay ahead of the curve, meeting industry leaders collaborated to fund a research project to predict as well as plan for the future of convention exhibits and trade shows. ASAE Foundation, Exhibition Industry Foundation, Freeman, Gaylord Entertainment, and PCMA Education commissioned a project to look at the trends and analyze trade shows from five hypothetical perspectives. Each provides insight into how to create more impact with exhibit space.
