WASHINGTON — ASAE will present Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) with its 2012 Sentinel Award on March 14 in Washington, DC, for his leadership role last year in urging the Administration to modify a proposed rule restricting government employees from attending trade association meetings, conferences and trade shows.
WASHINGTON — More than 5,000 nonprofit and association professionals are expected to attend the 2012 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition in Dallas, August 11-14. With the 2012 election in November, ASAE wanted to provide members with political insight into the election process and how the current political landscape will impact the country. For the opening General Session, August 12, Democrat strategist James Carville and Republican strategist Karl Rove will discuss these issues and why the political shifts are happening. The session will be moderated by Michelle Bernard, political analyst, MSNBC and founder, The Bernard Center for Women, Politics and Public Policy.
For the closing General Session, August 14, Daniel H. Pink will provide a new approach to business and sales and how the art and science of selling has evolved. Pink is an author of four books including the New York Times bestsellers, A Whole New Mind and Drive.
ASAE is hosting three Game Changer sessions, which are given by influential leaders in business, innovation, and finance. Here’s the list of topics and speakers:
- “Creating an Age of Abundance” by Peter Diamandis. He will examine human needs by category and how technologies are transforming things that were once scarce to something abundant.
- “The Keys to Personal Financial Happiness” with Jean Chatzky. She will share a survey in which she questioned 1,500 Americans about their financial attitudes and behaviors and looks at how much money people need in order to have a happy, comfortable life.
- “The Power of Using Influence & The Art of Diplomacy” with Hattie Hill and Fritzi Woods. They will discuss how becoming a powerful advocate and sponsor for others can fuel your career.
“With this being an important election year and associations trying to find new, innovative ways to implement business strategies, we wanted to have dynamic, smart, strategic thinkers that can provide these perspectives,” said John H. Graham IV, CAE. “Rove and Carville will engage in an important discussion about politics that will give our members insight into how the election may impact their organizations. As professionals, we are always looking for ways to become better communicators and advocates for our members, and Pink will provide attendees with a new perspective, tips, and tools on how to be a better seller, so they can take their association to the next level.”
Today, ASAE launched its 2012 Annual Meeting & Exposition website, which includes information on all the speakers, more than 120 education sessions, registration, hotels, and events.
