ASAE will award its 2011 Sentinel Award to Congressman Chris Van Hollen (MD-8) for his work on behalf of the association community.
WASHINGTON—ASAE will award its 2011 Sentinel Award to Congressman Chris Van Hollen (MD-8) for his work on behalf of the association community.
Congressman Van Hollen has been a tireless advocate for the association community, in particular during the health care debate when his office advocated for the inclusion of nonprofits in the small employer subsidy. The Sentinel Award is in recognition of his efforts on this and many other issues.
The Award will be given during the American Associations Day Reception, hosted by the ASAE Board of Directors, on March 29, 5-7:00 p.m., at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill's Thornton Room (400 New Jersey Ave NW).
“As association professionals gather for our annual legislative Fly-In, we are proud to honor Congressman Van Hollen who has been a true champion of the association community,” said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, CAE. “Honoring this outstanding and deserving public servant is just one part of an exciting event that will show the importance of associations as social and economic drivers.”
ASAE’s annual Fly-in this year will be accompanied by other events to show how associations are driving the economy and society during the inaugural The Power of A Week. This new effort, which will take place March 28-April 1, will explore different elements of The Power of A campaign and allow participation from across the country.
