WASHINGTON—The Communication Section Council, one of ASAE’s volunteer groups, has recently selected the 2011 Gold Circle Award winners. The annual competition honors associations and nonprofit organizations that demonstrate excellence in communication across eleven categories, including magazines, newsletters, websites, blogs, podcasts, media relations campaigns and innovative communications. Sponsored by TMG Custom Media, this year the competition received nearly 200 entries.
“ASAE Gold Circle Award recognizes top tier association communication programs that are not just good—they're the best in class,” said Brad Monterio, chair of the ASAE Communication Section Council. “This year's winners serve as shining examples of effective communication practices combined with creativity, design and innovation, and rooted in solid strategies.”
“The quality of this year’s entries was very impressive, with many imaginative and original pieces,” added Richard A. Belle, chair of the Gold Circle Award Committee and member of the Communication Section Council. “Judges were frequently faced with difficult decisions in choosing winners, with so many first-rate communication vehicles.”
Belle also noted that the Gold Circle Award Committee has unveiled its latest annual edition of the “Effective Communications Practices Guide,” a resource for association and nonprofit professionals in designing effective communications programs. The guide can be found online at www.asaecenter.org/goldcircle.
The annual competition presents a special honor, the Council’s Choice Award, chosen by the Communication Section Council from among the 2011 Gold Circle Award recipients. Inaugurated in 2009, the Council’s Choice Award is bestowed upon the one Gold Circle Award winner that best exemplifies overall effectiveness and excellence.
The Council’s Choice Award recipient will be announced at the annual Gold Circle Award Ceremony held at ASAE’s 2011 Annual Meeting & Exposition in St. Louis, August 7 at 5:00 p.m.
“Innovative, compelling communications are the benchmark of this competition. TMG is proud to support the Gold Circle Award that recognizes those who have exemplified communications excellence over the past year. Congratulations to all the winners,” said Jane Ottenberg, president of TMG Custom Media.
