WASHINGTON—The ASAE Foundation has hired Stephen Peeler to join the organization as Vice President of Development. In this position, Peeler will lead all fundraising and development programs, campaigns and special events that support the Foundation’s initiatives as well as expanding donor and volunteer relations, and managing recognition programs.
Peeler comes to ASAE from the American Moving and Storage Association in Alexandria, VA, a trade organization that represents 3,200 moving and storage companies from around the world. He has more than 20 years of innovative nonprofit leadership and fund development experience. He has a proven track record in generating revenue and increasing support bases for many organizations while bringing together like-minded groups to form productive coalitions. He brings excellent experience in building boards with major gift capacity; creating and launching operating and capital campaigns; developing and managing donor relationships; and identifying and stewarding individual donors and institutional funders.
“Stephen brings such a rich acumen of fundraising experience to ASAE and his expertise will be especially valuable as we reach out to our membership base and continue to build lasting relationships with the association community,” said Susan Robertson, CAE, President of the ASAE Foundation and Executive Vice President of ASAE. “He has experience and established relationships in both the industry partner/hospitality sector and the association profession, and he has been an active member of ASAE and is already familiar with the majority of our efforts and opportunities that exist for the Foundation. We look forward to leverage this expertise and feel that it will bring even more support and direction to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers, members and industry partners.”
“As a volunteer leader and member of ASAE for the past 14 years, I am very excited to be joining such a well respected organization and to be playing a part in the continued success of the ASAE Foundation. I look forward to utilizing my vast experience to build upon their successful program, and to take fundraising and recognition programs in new and exciting directions that will be rewarding to our donors as well as the Foundation itself." added Peeler.
Peeler is a graduate of Howard University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management. He is a member of ASAE and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Peeler has been involved in ASAE in a number of different projects and committees, including the Industry Partner Alliance, Business Intelligence, the Diversity Committee, and the ASAE Mentor Connector Program. He is a candidate for the CAE (Certified Association Executive) and CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credentials.
“We’ve conducted a very thorough and dedicated search to bring the best candidate to address the needs of our organization, and Stephen has all the qualifications we’re looking for, and more. He’ll be a great asset to the Foundation and the entire association community,” added Robertson.
Peeler’s first day will be July 11.
