Global Summit on Social Responsibility
Leveraging the Power of Associations for a New Magnitude of Leadership
ASAE & The Center are hosting an innovative Global Social Responsibility Summit April 30 to May 2, 2008, to define the role that associations can play in solving complex world economic, social and environmental problems while simultaneously creating healthier organizations. The summit aims to collaboratively craft the principles, guidelines and actions that will transform this initiative from conversation to action.
“We will be setting our agenda for the future,” explains Susan Sarfati, president and CEO of The Center and executive vice president of ASAE. “The feedback from members has been so positive and enthusiastic that we believe we are ready to take the next step and, together, create a social responsibility platform for our profession. So many people are excited about participating that I’m confident this is a tipping point for collaboration within our sector!”
Using the much-lauded appreciative inquiry management theory that he developed, Case Western Reserve University Professor David Cooperrider, Ph.D., will be guiding the summit and ongoing conversations surrounding our overall initiative.
We are still in the early planning stages, but face-to-face simultaneous gatherings are being set up in cities throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. In addition, we expect strong online participation. We will post more information as it becomes finalized, but we invite you to save those dates and plan to participate in what we consider one of the most important initiatives we have ever launched.
