The 2012 election season is heating up and your association won't want to be left out in the cold. If your association is a 501(c)(6) organization, your tax-exempt status depends on your promotion of a common business interest and not engaging in a regular business that is ordinarily carried on for profit. You can engage in political activity without jeopardizing your tax-exempt status as long as it does not become your primary activity. But what constitutes political activity?
