Creating or entering online social media spaces for your association's members was the first step toward engaging your members online. How do you proceed? Developing a way to measure your members' engagement online and recognizing them for it will help sustain involvement, draw in more members, and increase value for all of your members across the board.

Andy raises good points. I think one of the challenges is how to measure those members who want to passively engage. That is, those who want to read the wikis, group posts etc, but don't want to contribute themselves. There will always be people on that part of the engagement ladder. Should we try to move them up the ladder? Or let them be?

Very thought provoking and hopefully will spur associations to consider social media and membership metrics in a different way.
