Eighteen Winners Named in Second Round of 2008 AAA Awards WASHINGTON, DC—Eighteen associations have been recognized with an Award of Excellence in the second round of judging for the 2008 Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards program, sponsored by ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership. Now in its 18th year, the AAA Awards recognize associations and industry partners that improve the quality of life in America with innovative programs in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service. Selected by a panel of peers three times per year, Award of Excellence winners are automatically entered into consideration for the Summit Award, ASAE & The Center’s highest association honor. Summit Award winners will be honored at ASAE & The Center’s Summit Awards Dinner Sept. 23, 2008 in Washington, DC. “Congratulations to the very deserving and forward-thinking organizations that have been recognized in this second round of ASAE & The Center’s 2008 AAA Awards program,” said Matthew D’Uva, CAE, president of SOCAP International and the 2007-2008 Chair of ASAE & The Center’s Associations Advance America Committee. “These award-winning programs exemplify the important role associations play in improving their communities and the quality of life we enjoy here in the U.S. It is vital that we recognize the extraordinary contributions these organizations make beyond the scope of their everyday mission, and share those stories both within our community and with outside audiences.” Any association is eligible to enter the AAA Awards. The 18 most recent winners were chosen from roughly 50 entries submitted by the March 7 deadline.
