Frequently Asked Questions about ASAE
Q. What does ASAE do for the association community?
We provide a wide variety of knowledge resources, learning experiences, and other tools and resources to help members of the association community grow and maximize their performance. We also serve as the voice of the association profession and advocate on its behalf.
Some of our best known offerings and initiatives include Associations Now magazine, Annual Meeting & Exposition, the Springtime expo, the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation, the Journal of Association Leadership, Career HQ, and the Association Knowledge Center.
Q. Who do you serve?
We serve the association community as a whole. Our membership is a diverse mix of association CEOs and professional staff (focusing on membership, meetings, education, expositions, publications, communications, marketing, technology, finance and administration, advocacy, component relations, and every other area of association management), as well as industry partners and consultants.
Q. How many members does ASAE have and who are they?
ASAE represents more than 21,000 association executives and industry partners representing 10,000 organizations. Our members manage leading trade associations, individual membership societies and voluntary organizations across the United States and in nearly 50 countries around the world. ASAE also represents suppliers of products and services to the association community. Of our total membership, approximately:
48 percent are association CEO members.

We are the largest, and the only international organization serving the association community.
This, coupled with our commitment to excellence, means that we offer the greatest variety of tools and resources for our members. Our international scope uniquely qualifies us to offer broad networking opportunities and be the advocacy voice of associations to the federal government.
